Supporting Australian football

National teams

Optus are proud sponsors of all the Australian national football teams including the Qantas Socceroos who have taken on some of the best teams in the world at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. While it proved to be a hard campaign including a loss to Germany and draw against Ghana, it culminated with an inspiring victory against Serbia in their last group match. Optus was right behind the team who never gave up in the face of some tough competition.

In 2011 the Australian team had a great campaign at the AFC Asian Cup finals in 2011 held in Qatar. Making it through to the grand final they lead an impressive game, losing out to Japan.

The focus now for the Australian team is the 2014 FIFA World Cup™to be held in Brazil and then the 2015 Asian Cup to be held in Australia.

2010 proved to be an exciting year for the Westfield Matildas, Australia's talented women's national football team. The team became the Asian champions after their unprecedented win of the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2010. The team also qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011, which was held in Germany.
